Joan was born in 1412, with no exact date known, to her Mother Isabella Romée, and her father Jacques d'Arc. She grew up in Domrémy-la-Pucelle, France. Joan of Arc grew up with her parents being Catholic in every sense of the word. She lived without her famed angels until age 12, where in her father’s garden at about noon, she had vivid visions of Saint Catherine and Margaret, very early Catholic martyrs, as well as Saint Michael, an angel. These heavenly figures told her to rescue France, but first she must "Govern herself and go to church often" Eventually over the years the visions got much more commanding, and the saints told her to go to the king of France and tell him of her mission, which was to help lead France out of peril. She had tried three times at the age of 16 for the chance to speak with Charles the Dauphin. (Frances King at the time) She had some help from Robert de Baudricourt, but not without a little pressure. In order to get him to allow her to see him, on her final attempt she had cornered him in a public place, and began to lecture him in front of the towns people of Vaucouleurs (where she stayed several months during the time when she was asking to be allowed to see the king), with the public peering eyes on him he finally agreed and our heroine could continue on her heavenly quest to save France.
