Her legacy lives on today as a very inspirational tale, not only of a women beating all odds and making it into an extremely high position of authority and power during a time when this was nearly impossible, but also of someone rising from the level of peasantry, and in 19 years becoming a noble. Not to forget that this is proof of the lengths people go to for their religion, a truly inspirational tale of hardships, preservation and the will of heart.
This is all not to forget her roles in not only traditional culture, but pop culture as well, being a character in Peter Shukoff's YouTube series "Epic Rap Battles of History" music video. She was also the inspiration behind Arcade Fire's "Joan of Arc", which takes her biggest impacts and links it to modern life. "Joan of Arc", by Bob and Holly music, a small music company takes her whole story in vivid detail and makes it into a soft song to tell her story. Also OMD's - "Maid of Orleans" (The Waltz Joan of Arc), which takes her story and puts it to an upbeat 80's song. Her tale is not only told through music, but also through the art of film, such as in Christian Duguay's 1999 movie "Joan of Arc", starring now famous actor Neil Patrick Harris, once again telling the inspirational tale of going from simple farmer life, to commanding war and religious hero. There are countless movies made of her truly astounding story, but I feel this was the best of what I had seen so far. One of the most and best ways she is recognized now for her astounding brilliance is by being granted Sainthood. In 1920 by the Catholic Church she was finally recognized as a saint, 850 years after her death she is finally granted the covenant title of saint. Of all those remembered for being inspirational, I feel she shines the brightest compared to her other competitors, with her motivating story of nothing to nobility, to her courageous victories, and not to forget her valiant sacrifice to save the civilians and let herself get captured. Her light truly does shine past everyone else, and her legacy will forever be burnt into the skies of humanity. Some songs and movies may have frequent profanities, and may not be safe for school~ |
